So the kid comes back down from Canada where he's been working way up north in Chetwynd in a sawmill. He hasn't played a lick of darts in two years and wants to shoot some darts.

So we clear out a path to the board I setup in the garage, turn on the heat and stereo and get warmed up. He's using my personal darts (one of kind, the Erik McVay Purist Darts if you will) since his are up in Canada and I'm using a subsitute for my new 'Purist' Softtips that are on their way here from Red Dragon.

I've been practicing and have a month and a half of league to his two years of not having throwing a single dart....I'm 51, he's 24. I should wipe the board with him. Should school the lad, teach him a thing or two. Right?

Game one: I'm out the gate tossing 'ok' hitting the trips and not waiting for the kid. Win for the old man though the kid was in it and the point were in the hundreds somewhere (cricket).......

Then game two and he suddenly decides not to lose! 7 marks are flying, straight on tight groups, not missing singles, the darn kid turns it up like Van Gerwin and I'm sitting there playing second fiddle to my kid who hasn't thrown a dart in two years! His win, points nearing the stratosphere....

Games 3 though 10 are no different. None at all really, the 5, 6 an 7 marks are coming at me thrown after throw and no matter how well I play he's a triple up and 100 points.....in the end we switch to 501 so he can school me there too. 140, 100, 140...uh oh

Ya, I won ONE darn game off the kid. That's it. One. I was playing about as well as I have in league and I think a little better. Not that I'm playing great in league but remember, the kid hasn't touched a dart in two years.

Yup, I'm humbled. He could be a champ if he wanted to. Kids good, way better than dad ever was.

    Good shooting Kurt!

    Truth right there.

We played a second night and I took some legs off him but in the end he just couldn't miss enough for me to capitalize! Even a 9 count in cricket all for points wasn't enough to slow him down!

I beginning to realize that this is a young mans game. Sure, there are those who are up there in age still playing great, but for the most part, we have to move over and watch the young guns take over, lol.

True. We can still put a scare on them though! OK, I didn't scare my son much but I made him work because he knew if he slacked off I was going to hammer him Wink
