I am considering the purchase of some new darts and wanted to know some other members recommendations. I shoot steel tip and most of my equipment is 20 years old or older. Barrels on those that I have are 1/4 in by 2 and also like 3/8 by 1 7/8. I seem to be more comfortable with the thicker barrel. I guess older hands like a fatter handle. I look forward to hear your input!

I like bigger darts myself and designed mine for that reason. I wanted to feel the dart in my fingers but also wanted it to be shaped in such a way to discourage deflections. They sold at Red Dragon for several years but eventually sold out and are no longer in production though I'm thinking of working on some changes to get them back into production.

My advice is to find a dart store you can try some at to see what feels right. Barring that, I'd look at the sizes listed for the various darts which you can do at Red Dragon and then order something that looks like it might work and give it a try :) Darts are cheap enough to have a few sets ;)

But I only carry ONE set when I'm competing to prevent me from trying different things if my darts aren't going right. Never liked changing amid match.

Good advice. Unfortunately no dart store for me to go demo darts. Designed your own...way cool! I’m trying to take specs of the darts I’m shooting with and compare to those from harrows and others including barrels only at A to Z. The tungsten percentages have made the barrels so thin. I have a set of Voks El-C that we’re so super thin 25 years ago and they’re thick compared to now. I may invest in pointing tool also and play with what I have. It’s not the arrow it’s the Indian!
