    Hi Gang,

    There will be no forum advertising for 'sales' purposes except under the following conditions:

    1. You have my written (email) permission to do so (usually for companies I endorse).
    2. It is done in the form of an avatar.
    3. It is for private sale in the 'for sale' thread.
    4. You currently pay for advertising on the site and wish to add something in the forums (a comment or contact etc).

    This was taken directly from the site FAQ:

    · May I submit sales ads in the forum?
    Yes and No. There's no easy answer on this actually, because I want individuals to be able to offer their personal darts or dart items to each other. Yet I do not want commercial advertising taking up forum threads. Therefore, at the moment if you wish to sell your darts and you are not a business, you may offer them in a thread called 'sales'. However, if you are a commercial entity, dart shop etc, then please submit a web link for your store (it's free) and consider banner advertising on the site.

    Please be sure to stick to these rules.

    Lastly, I've removed the 'allow html' feature in the forums. So if you had an html signature it's no longer going to work. I'm sorry, but I cannot allow the forums to become a rolling billboard for businesses to advertise.

    Thanks
    Erik

    In an attempt to be fair to the companies I have endorsed and whom support this site, I have decided to make a change to 'site advertising'.

    Product Reviews will only remain in the reviews section for a short time (anywhere from 1 week to a month) if they are not for a product I have endorsed personally. Products I endorse or review for a specific company will remain on the site indefinitely (i.e. Balance Point Darts).

    This gives you, the user, a chance to write a review about something or give somebody a plug, but at some point I will remove it in deference to the companies that support the site.

    I fought with this pretty hard because I would like to see lots of reviews, but on the other hand it might not be too fair for companies that support the site in some way. For example, the current reviews represent sponsorship and endorsements in some way shape or form, except for Taechons review on Unicorn.

    Sorry for any confusion this might cause.

    Seems I need to bring this up again.

    Heck even I sometimes don't think about it, so anyone can forget.

    Again, no advertising unless the above conditions are met.

    Sorry.

    Just a reminder.

    This also means that a business cannot use advertising in their signature unless they have permission by me to do so.

    My intent here is to keep the forums as advertising free as possible.

    You the members may suggest a business to others -- I have no problem with that -- but repeatedly doing so constitutes advertising, so be sure to consider that when offering advice.

    Example of something I will delete:

    Hey you can get those at blahdarts.com and if you go to blahdarts.com and buy this and that then blahdarts.com will send you cool stuff. Don't forget that balhdarts.com does this and blahdarts.com does that.

    That sort of thing I will delete.

    Another example:

    So-and-so writes:

    blah blah blah
    ~~~~signature~~~~~~~~
    DoDadDarts.com your online darts resource.
    Sorry folks, that is against the rules.
    If you would like to have an advertising signature please email me first to request permission to do so -- and perhaps offer some financial aid to the site in exchange.
    Cheers
    Erik
    One last thing: I've removed posts from friends, modified friends posts and will simply edit out signatures that violate the rules.
    I don't want anyone to feel singled out, it's just policy and I tend to be pretty strict with it.
    You could, but that wouldn't be violating any rules as long as you don't have a dart business called sewer darts.
