Thank you Craig!
Jacob is a friend of my son, Kevin. He is currently in a hospital in California but he will be moved to Portland for his recovery in the next few days. To help this family with Jacob's many expenses we are having a fundraising dart tournament over Labor Day Weekend followed with local bands on Saturday night at A&L.
If anyone has items they would like to donate to the raffle or won't be able to attend but would like to make a donation please PM me.
I'll see what I can personaly do, but I will also talk to other teams in my league and league officals to see if we can come up with something. This sounds like a great cause, like the state trooper tournament that i am planning on shooting in, he died in the line of duty here in NH.
Why not post this in the Tournament Calendar? It's easy peasy
If I were to attend, I would need an Open Doubles Partner because Erik won't be able to come with me. He has to take his son back up to B.C.
I am just thinking about it. . .and if Christina hooks me up with a place to stay  I may be even more inclined, but would need a partner.
Christina and I haven't talked about this particular event, yet, but usually one of us does not arrange a partner beforehand. That way, everyone who shows up is guarenteed a partner. So, please, everyone show up. We will make sure that you will have somebody to shoot with.
Also, the Fletcher Challenge will be in effect for these shoots. Anyone who wins the Friday-nite shoot and wins the Saturday-nite shoot gets an extra $100!!!!
See you there!
Pepsidiltz - That is great, thank you and let me know if you have any other questions!
Fletcher - Thank you! We'll talk soon!
Jacob came home today! He will be in Emanual Hospital for sometime, but at least he is in Portland, so his family and friends can visit.
Jacob's family now has a website that they are posting updates on Jacob, I thought I would post the link in case anyone would like to check on his progress.
Since they don't have an FOH (Front of House mixing board) at the A&L they'll have to do their own soundchecks (or you'll need to find a sound company as well).
You should ask them what they are expecting the A&L to have for them (hopefully they will answer "Nothing!").
Christina! I'd ve had a bit too many after doing "practising" darts today, but is there a paypal or something I can donate to? I definitely can't make it to the tournament but am alwyas happy to help a worthy cause.
The Benefit would have to be called a success! I'm sure Christina will be along soon to update the specifics, but here are some of the pictures I took at the event (the blond lady in the middle of the winner pictures is Jacob's Mom):
Below is a quote from Jennie, she posted on Jacob's Journal Website:

After winning the Friday Night Blind Draw, Greg H. continued his great darts on Saturday, reaching the finals, but, fell just short of being the first winner of the Fletcher Challenge Prize ($100). The Rainman and Jester picked up an extra $20 "bounty" for their win

The finals featured a repeat performance of Kevin "The Rainman" Luke verses Greg Haggan. These top players had already faced each other in the finals of the open doubles and the Rainman proved the truth of his name, in taking both finals in three straight games. Featured in the Rainman's sweep was one of the greatest shots seen at the A&L: a perfect 170 Out. It's interesting to note that just prior to hitting the perfect out, Rainman had a total of 262 and threw a S20, S18, T18 for a 92 score leaving open the possibly of hitting the 170. The 170 itself was a classic - Bang, Bang, Bang... game to the Rainman!
Special thanks to Christina for all of her work in making this one of the great events at the A&L.
Thank you Fletcher!!
Wow!!! What a tournament! Wish I could have been there...Thanks for the awesome report Fletcher and great job Christina and everyone who played!
A link from a Portland area news station about Jacob:
He is doing great and the story tells you something about what a great guy he is!
I'm ChristinaO's son, I'm currently working for Jake as his caregiver, he continues to show a positive and motivated attitude, every other day he amazes me by doing things that would be thought simple in every day life for a non-paraplegic. Every day is another step for us.
We recently came back from Hawaii shooting a trailer for a documentary we're working on for paraplegic surfer's. Jake is gonna surf, really surf, in the ocean, on a board made for him for the documentary. We have some good sponsors and moral support from all sides. Things can only get better from here.
I can't thank our supporters enough from the Jacob Shoot, we appreciated the help immensely from all of my mom's friends that I hear about all the time..
Thank you again!
"Thanks everyone for all your support, things are going awesome, and thanks for helping me out when i really needed it. I'd try and play darts but I think I'd hurt myself haha. i need a dart gun, Have fun!"
I'm going to assume that Jacob is logged in under Kevin tonight..
Good to see both of you here thanking everyone for the support, I appreciate that you've taken the time!
It is so awesome to hear your update KevinO--and welcome to the site! I'm sure all of us here, we can't wait to see the link for Jake's video or any other news on the project or his recovery...
What the dart players did to help is wonderful, but I'm sure we all admire your effort and Jake's effort a lot lot more. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us! And, make life easy for your mom, the best you can. The credit you deserve was something she taught you how to earn...
(Jacob? You out there too? It sounds like you are kicking some ass. That's right, I said it. These kinda things, to me, are worth a good swear. Keep it goin' young brother.)
